Hard drive stolen from ministry

A BRAND new computer hard drive was reportedly stolen from an Islamic Affairs Ministry building in Manama.

The thief stole the unused hard drive, leaving behind the monitor and speakers from the Jafariya Waqf Department building opposite the Sacred Heart Church.

All old computers had been recently replaced in the third-floor office, said the building's security officer S T Nair.

He said he did not see anybody suspicious entering the building the day the hard drive went missing.

"I had gone to the adjacent building, but I did not see any strangers entering the office while I was there or anybody exiting with a computer," said Mr Nair.

"So I think it must be someone who knows the office well, otherwise an alert would have been sounded.

"Also, since it was working hours, there were a lot of staff and customers and it could be any one of them." A complaint has been filed with the police.
