Computer theft doesn't affect Taft High summer classes
A weekend break-in left Taft Union High School short 17 computers for its summer school classes.
The laptop computers were stolen out of a classroom in the science building at Seventh and Warren Streets.
Taft Police are investigating the theft along with high school security.
Taft Union High School Superintendent Curt Dubost said the there were actually two break-ins.
One computer was stolen from the art room.
But that was found in the room in the science building where the other computers were taken.
Summer School Coordinator Harold Heiter said the theft would not interfere with the school summer program.
The class using the computers that were stolen was moved up to the LRC near the TUHS library where extra computers are available, Heiter said.
The school offered five computer classes originally, but since some had small enrollments one section was closed and those students were added to the remaining four classes, he said.
