Tillsonburg News — More than $10,000 worth of equipment was stolen during a break-in at the Tillsonburg municipal offices, OPP Const. Dennis Harwood said. The offices are located in the Tillsonburg Town Centre.Four Dell laptop computers, a Toshiba video projector and a Hewlitt-Packard digital camera were taken sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, Harwood said.“A door into the municipal offices was forced open. How they got into the mall is under investigation,” he said.Tillsonburg’s CAO, Dave Morris, doesn’t believe any sensitive information is on the laptops.“Most of our information is kept on the server, so there shouldn’t be,” he said.Harwood said the culprit(s) might be trying to sell the stolen items.“They generally are either bragging about it or trying to sell them. That’s the information we’re looking for from the public,” he said. “These computers are out there and someone’s trying to sell them.” Anyone with information should call either the OPP at (519) 688-6540 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).Employees noticed the damage when arriving to work Wednesday morning and called police, Harwood said. The stolen equipment is covered under the town’s insurance policy and will be replaced as soon as possible, Morris said
