Ex-principal denies school theft
A former school principal has been charged with stealing more than £36,000 from the school where she worked.
Mary Elizabeth Devine from Farmhill Road in Omagh denies stealing the money and other items from St Mary's Primary School in Killyclougher.
The 62-year-old is alleged to have taken a total of £36,590 in cash, as well as goods including a digital camera, a bed and a video recorder.
The alleged thefts all took place on dates between June 1997 and June 2004.
She also faces a charge of stealing computer equipment which belonged to the school.
On Monday, Ms Devine pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Her solicitor asked that a second senior counsel be appointed to the defence team because of the "complexity and seriousness of the charges and the amount of money involved".
The judge agreed to the request. He told Ms Devine that, at this stage, he was unable to set a date for trial, but that it was unlikely to be before September.
She was then released on continuing bail to appear again at Dungannon Court later this month.
