Computers stolen in preschool burglary
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 10/21/06
ASBURY PARK — A computer system was stolen Friday morning in a brazen burglary from the Little Tot's Preschool on Grand Avenue.
Preschool owner Sylvia Brodrick said she arrived at the school about 9:30 a.m., the same time as police who had been notified of the break-in by a neighbor of the school.
The burglars cut through a rear fence, then broke a rear window to gain entry into the building, Brodrick said.
She said the three computers that were stolen held "the brain" of the school's operations, including information on employees and students. She said she did not know whether the computers contained personal information.
Also stolen was a fax machine and printer, she said.
Brodrick said this was the third time since Oct. 10 that the school had been burglarized.
Tiny Tot's, which operates under a city contract, was closed Friday, as were all district schools. About 220 students, ages 3 to 5, attend the school.
