Oct. 28--A 9-year-old, a 10-year-old and a 12-year-old face commercial burglary charges after breaking into a West Side elementary school with plans to steal computers, according to police. Police nabbed the three students Sunday night after they broke several windows to get into Mary Ann Binford Elementary School, according to Gil Lovato, director of Albuquerque Public Schools police. 'They tripped the alarms, and the police showed up,' Lovato said. A video surveillance caught it all on tape. The kids told police they were going to steal computers from the school, Lovato said. But it's unclear how they were going to make their getaway with their loot. 'There was no evidence the students had any way of getting the computers off campus other than to carry them,' APS spokesman Rigo Chavez said. He said the kids did not unplug or move any computers. The 9-year-old attends Mary Ann Binford. The other two are middle school students. One goes to Jimmy Carter and the other to John Adams, Chavez said. The children are charged with commercial burglary and vandalism for breaking the windows, Lovato said. After being charged, they were released to their parents, Chavez said. He said the kids also were given school suspension"
