Motorcycle clue to £60,000 burglary
Oct 20 2006
By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner
POLICE investigating a £60,000 theft think this off-road motorbike may hold a clue to catching the criminals.
Thieves stole specialist computer equipment worth £60,000 from a Honley firm on Monday night.
They also took this distinctive orange 270cc Beta B Rev 3 trials bike, number YK53 BXE.
The computers have touch screens and are designed to be used in large shops, not at home.
Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: "The thieves may realise these computers are not what they thought they were and are trying to get rid of them.
"The bike is also a good clue. Do you know anyone who has got a Beta B Rev 3 this week? If so, we need to hear from you."
Many of the computers start with the serial numbers 41CX or 41CY.
The thieves may have been at the premises for some time and would have needed a large vehicle.
Det Con Conlon added: "The computers must be stored somewhere or are being distributed. Someone must know something."
Police are not naming the company or exactly where it is in Honley.
Phone Huddersfield CID on 01484 436685 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
