FLORIDA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM ROTONDA GOLD AND COUNTRY CLUB http://www.sun-herald.com/Newsstory.cfm?pubdate=112806&story=tp7ew3.htm&folder=NewsArchive2

Burglars steal thousands from clubhouse

Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a Thanksgiving weekend burglary at the Rotonda Golf & Country Club.

The burglars took thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, computers and cash from the clubhouse at 266 Rotonda Circle.

Deputies responded to the Palms Course clubhouse shortly before 7 a.m. Friday.

"All of the cabinets and refrigerators were opened in the bar area," a sheriff's report said. "The glass door leading to the golf pro shop was shattered."

The thieves took just one set of Cobra golf clubs, valued at approximately $1,200, states the report. They also stole golf apparel, including six golf shirts and 10 golf jackets, valued at nearly $650.

The burglars took electronics too.

Three computers, with a total value of about $4,500, were stolen from the clubhouse, as was "the hard drive memory for the security cameras," the report said.

"They tried to rip off a 42-inch (flat-screen) TV," said general manager David Kelly.

The burglars also took off with nearly $4,000 in cash from the safe and bar area.

This was the first burglary for this country club, but burglars hit The Hills, 100 Rotonda Circle, just three months ago, Kelly said.

Numerous businesses in the Englewood and Rotonda area have been burglarized recently, including one store that has been hit twice in a week.

Burglars hit ProSports, 12456 N. Access Road, in Englewood East, again last week.
The first burglary took place Nov. 18. In that burglary, the thieves took 20 hooded Adidas sweatshirts and $60.

The second burglary was reported Nov. 22. The Charlotte County Sheriff's report did not say what was taken in this burglary.

Anyone with information about either burglary is asked to call the Sheriffs' Office at 941-475-9005. Tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS. Crime Stoppers callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
