MICHIGAN COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOL WOODTV.com & WOOD TV8 - Grand Rapids news and weather - Laptops stolen from GR Central High:
GRAND RAPIDS -- Grand Rapids Public Schools officials are looking for some laptop computers that they say were stolen from a school over the holiday weekend.
About 30 laptop computers were taken sometime between Wednesday night and Monday morning from Grand Rapids Central High School.
The total value of the Dell laptops is about $40,000.
Larry Johnson, the GRPS Director of Security, says there was no sign of any break-in inside the exterior of the building. He adds storage doors were pried open and locks were removed.
There is no risk of identity theft as the computers were used for instructional use only.
'...We want to insure our staff and our parents that no personal data on any students or any staff are kept in these computers. However, it's important that we get 'em back to continue the educational process in our district,' Johnson told 24 Hour News 8.
Anyone with any information on the stolen laptops is asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department or Silent Observer."
