PENNSYLVANIA COMPUTERS STOLEN http://local.lancasteronline.com/4/27349
LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - They stole cars and trucks, police said, taking them for joy rides, conducting their own demolition derby and leaving one stolen antique car submerged in a lake.
They broke into businesses and homes of their neighbors, state police said, stealing thousands of dollars worth of computers, tools, cash, electronic items, guitars, and a handgun.
And they broke into the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, twice, troopers said, helping themselves to lots and lots of beer.
On Tuesday, state police filed multiple charges against two young men in connection with a yearlong crime spree in southern Lancaster County.
Aaron Thomas Brown, 19, of Nottingham, and Kevin Charles Blevins, 18, of New Providence, were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stuart Mylin.
Both young men were committed to county prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, pending a hearing later this month.
Trooper Mark Magyer, who investigated the crimes, said two other suspects, including a juvenile and another young man currently serving in the military, face similar charges.
Although Magyer said he was able to recover many of the stolen items, the total loss and damage to property in Little Britain, Colerain, Fulton, East Drumore and Bart townships, was estimated at more than $87,000.Magyer said he questioned Brown and Blevins separately about the incidents in September and both young men confessed to the crime spree.Unlike many criminals, the alleged burglars weren’t stealing the items to pawn for cash, Magyer said, but for their own personal possession. In June, according to court documents, the burglars broke into the office of D.M. Stoltzfus and Son, Fulton Township, stealing keys to two vehicles and several cases of soda. The suspects then drove around the property, troopers said, “crashed the vehicles into one another,’’ causing $5,000 damage to the vehicle. In April and again in July, police said, the suspects broke into the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, White Rock Road, Colerain Township. The first time, Magyer said, the thieves stole two televisions and a beer dispenser, along with two barrels of beer, plus multiple cases of beer and numerous bottles of liquor, valued at $1,543.The second time, police said, the thieves stole two cases of beer, valued at $60, and caused $300 damage. In August, Magyer said, a 1958 Ford Falcon was stolen from a garage in Little Britain Township. It was later found partially submerged in the Octoraro Lake, its interior set on fire. The loss was approximately $20,000, police said. The crime spree began in September 2005, Magyer said, when the young men entered a home in Little Britain Township, stealing an ornamental sword, a handgun and a 5-gallon jar of coins. Some months were busier than others, according to court documents, when the suspects entered homes and businesses, breaking windows or removing air conditioners to gain entry.Five homes and businesses were targeted twice during the spree.Among the many items police recovered, Magyar said, are three vehicles, an all-terrain vehicle, tools and electronics.Brown was charged with 18 counts each of burglary and conspiracy, plus 17 counts of theft and 11 counts of criminal mischief.Blevins was charged with 19 counts of burglary, 17 counts of conspiracy, 13 counts of theft and 11 counts of criminal mischief
