SOUTH CAROLINA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM OFFICE Georgetown Times: "A burglary was reported at Santee Electric Co-op’s West Virginia Road office Oct. 24. An employee said he arrived for work and saw the lights were not on as they should have been. He then noticed the keyless entry system was not working and the alarm had been turned off.
Investigators talked with other workers who said the alarm was on when they left the previous day. The wiring to the alarm system was cut by the intruders, the report states.
Whoever broke in, pried open the door of a drink machine and took an unknown amount of money. A computer monitor and three laptop computers were stolen from an office.
Not only was the alarm deactivated, the security cameras were removed from the walls. However, what the thieves apparently did not know is that the footage from each of the cameras automatically downloads into a computer that was not taken and a technician told investigators that could be used to help identify the suspects.
The cameras captured video of one man walking into the business at about 2 a.m. Oct. 24 while another man stood outside the door. Both were wearing gloves and face masks. The investigation continues."
