$5,000 in electronics stolen from 2 schools
Burglars stole computers and electronics valued at more than $5,000 from two Camarillo schools last week, police said.
At Los Senderos Open School more than $3,500 of electronic equipment was stolen and loot valued at $2,000 was taken from Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School, police said. Burglars gained entry by
breaking windows and prying open doors on the evening of Dec. 5 or during early morning hours of Dec. 6, according to Camarillo police.
Senior Dep. Julie Novak said in cases like these, usually more than one person is involved.
She said detectives are looking into similarities between the cases to see if they are related.
Ken Moffett, superintendent of the Pleasant Valley School District, said that other than the broken windows the schools had no damage, but the break-ins upset students.
“That’s a traumatic experience for the students to come in (to),” Moffett said at the Dec. 7 board meeting, later adding, “But the kids just need reassurance.”
