Children's computers stolen by thieves
Thieves who raided a city infants school, stealing thousands of pounds worth of laptops have been branded "low-life" by a governor.
Burglars made off with the computers, estimated to be worth £5,800, when they broke into Brewster Avenue Infant School.
They targeted two separate areas of the school building in Brewster Avenue, Woodston, Peterborough, by forcing the rear windows. A large quantity of the laptops were taken but it's unclear whether they were the school's entire supply.
Councillor David Thorpe, who is one of the school's governors, said it would be difficult for the children to come to terms with the theft.
He said: "It's a dreadful thing for the kids to lose all their laptops. Even if we can replace them easily, there's that dreadful feeling that their place was broken into and things they were using yesterday were stolen by someone prowling in their area. The effect will be difficult to overcome and it will be very upsetting for them, especially as this is meant to be a secure place."
The people who did this are a low form of life."Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area or have any information.
The break-in happened overnight Wednesday. The theft was discovered by staff at about 7.40am on Thursday
