AUSTRALIA COMPUTERS STOLEN The Border Mail - Driver is injured in violent rampage: TAXI driver is the latest victim in a string of crimes committed by a violent gang of young men who have terrorised the city of Adelaide for three years, police say.

Gary Burns, SA Police Assistant Commissioner, said a series of crimes began about 3.20am yesterday when four men and a woman armed with machetes stormed into a Ridleyton house, north of Adelaide.

The bandits stole two cars, cash and computers.

Mr Burns said police later pursued the vehicles in the northern suburbs about 7.30am, but the chase was called off.

Soon after, before 8am, one of the cars allegedly sped through a stop sign in suburban Prospect and hit a taxi, injuring its driver, he said.

The driver remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

He said the driver and a passenger fled the scene but a 17-year-old boy was later arrested"
