UK COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM CLUB
Blackpool Today Blackpool news - Yob raid angers Seasiders
YOBS have ransacked Blackpool Football Club's training ground.
Doors were smashed in and computers stolen in the raid on Monday night.Staff and players arrived at the Squires Gate base yesterday morning to discover the destruction.
Police forensic officers were at the training ground yesterday to perform fingertip searches for evidence.
Manager Simon Grayson's office was also turned over.
Demolition
Fuming club bosses today hit out at those responsible for the rampage.
Steve Thompson, the Seasiders' first team coach, arrived at 8.45am to find the demolition job.
He said: "To find this is sickening and very frustrating.
"We have had the back door set on fire and windows smashed before, but nothing like this.
"We have a lot of parents from the centre of excellence who have done a whole lot of work up here renovating the place and helping out.
"We have had computers stolen which has the database with details of the young lads on the books."
Manager Simon Grayson said: "It's just annoying and frustrating that this has happened.
"It's disappointing that people have decided to do this and it is an inconvenient nuisance we could do without.
"It's a sad reflection on society in general."
Karl Oyston, chairman, added: "I agree it is a sad indictment of a society we live in that we have to suffer this mindless vandalism.
"They will get a few quid for selling on whatever they have pinched and caused us thousands of pounds in damage and inconvenience.
"We can ask our neighbours to be more vigilant and use the training ground more to try to make it more secure. I don't envy the police in rounding up these people every day."
Gary Parkinson, youth development officer at Blackpool FC, said: "Two doors have been kicked in, there's a lot of damage, the casing around the doors has been kicked off. It's very upsetting.
"We know the computers have been taken from the youth team area but we are not quite sure exactly how much has been taken.
"What they have done is empty one of the kit bags, left the kit on the floor, and presumably used the empty bag to carry away what they have stolen."
A spokesman for Blackpool Police confirmed an incident had been reported and said they were investigating.
