A Tim Hortons cup found at the scene of a theft at Mothers Computers in Saanich has given police at least one suspect in the Dec. 30 break and enter.
Seventeen laptops valued at more than $26,000 were stolen from the store Dec. 30 after thieves pried open a metal door leading to a utility room, and then smashed through drywall into the store's bathroom.
A Tim Hortons cup of hot chocolate was found at the scene.
Saanich police pulled surveillance footage for the one customer who ordered such a beverage around that time at a nearby Tim Hortons in Saanich Plaza, said Saanich police Sgt. John Price.
A stolen maroon minivan believed to be linked to the theft was found nearby.
Anyone with information can call the Saanich police at 475-4321 or Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
