Water District Customers Warned About Possible ID Theft

SAN DIEGO -- Some North County residents may need to check their credit-card statements for signs of fraud.Burglars stole computers from the Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District that contained the names and credit-card numbers of more than 500 customers.

The water district's interim general manager, Darlene Lynn, said that the computers were password protected. She also said that replacement computers will likely have a tracking system or a program to remotely delete sensitive files.
