Police Uncover Stolen Electronics In Man's Home"
MIMS, Fla. -- Thousands of dollars worth of stolen TVs, computers, and lawn equipment were uncovered inside a Brevard County home Monday.
Investigators said they want to give those items back to victims across Central Florida, WESH 2 News reported.
Investigators said everything including flat-screen TVs, an iPod home theatre system, generators, and tools were among the items stolen, amounting to more than $300,000.
Deputies said they uncovered the goods inside seven stolen cargo trailers at a home in Mims.
Authorities said they arrested Dustin West, 30. Investigators said he worked as a traveling DJ stealing things like liqour, lawn mowers and generators from the houses he worked at. Agents said one of West's victims helped catch him.
"The victim said he was going to look down every road in Brevard County until he found his trailer. He said his life was in that trailer," Agent David Marich with the Brevard County Sheriff's Department said.
Deputies said the victim found his trailer, along with six other stolen trailers, sitting in West's yard.
Detectives said they believe West has a compulsive stealing problem. They allegedly found stolen shrubs pulled out of people's front yards, home appliances, a tractor and even a bird bath.
"That's an outstanding fine. It was all because of one alert citizen who was determined he wasn't going to be a victim," Marich said.
Investigators said they have already tracked down 16 other victims. Police said West bonded out of jail for $4,000.
