PENNSYLVANIA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM APARTMENT Second apartment burglarized
A second home invasion, this one at the downtown apartment complex The Graduate, occurred early yesterday morning when a woman awoke to five unknown men in her apartment, State College police said.
The first incident occurred five days ago at Beaver Hill apartments across town.
At about 4 a.m. yesterday, a woman who was visiting the area was awoken in an apartment at The Graduate, 138 S. Atherton St., by five black men who had entered her apartment through the unlocked front door and were taking computers and other items, police said.
The woman yelled at the intruders, who began to flee the apartment, according to a State College police press release. As the suspects were leaving, a male student, who lives in the apartment, was returning home from work, police said.
The male roommate said he saw two black men in his living room and three black men coming down the hallway from the bedrooms as he entered the apartment, according to the press release.
Police said one of the suspects hit the male resident with his shoulder, knocking him out of the way, and all five men fled the apartment.
The suspects stole two Dell Inspiron laptop computers, a Sony PlayStation, an XBox, an iPod speaker-docking base, a computer monitor, DVDs and video games, police said.
The male roommate told police that he got a good look at two of the five men who left the apartment.
The first suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slender build, a shaved head and acne scars on his face, according to the press release. He was reported as wearing a dark puffy coat with fur trim on the hood.
The second suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium to large build and a goatee, according to the press release. The man was reported as wearing a bright blue puffy winter coat and a white baseball hat.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact police at 234-7150.
Callers may be eligible for a reward for information leading to an arrest, police said.
Detective Chris Weaver, who is in charge of the investigation, could not be reached for comment by press time yesterday. State College Police Sgt. Mathew Wilson said although it's "very, very possible" the crimes are connected, the police department has not conclusively determined whether the two incidents were committed by the same people.
Three unknown men robbed a local student resident at knifepoint at about 1 p.m. Wednesday in his Beaver Hill apartment, 340 E. Beaver Ave., police said.
Police said a white man knocked on the victim's door and entered the apartment, followed by two black men. The white man pulled out a pocketknife with a four-inch blade while the other suspects ransacked the bedroom and stole a Dell laptop computer, a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
Police did not report the use of a weapon in yesterday's robbery.
