UK COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM HOSPITAL The Sun Online - News: Raiders snatch patient secrets:
SECRET details on hundreds of patients have been stolen from a flagship hospital.
Burglars broke in to the £36million Lymington New Forest Hospital in Hampshire a day after it opened and stole 30 computers.
The hard drives — which should have been wiped of all data — contained hundreds of names, addresses and medical conditions.
Hampshire police are investigating and a hospital probe is under way amid fears the secrets could fall into the wrong hands.
The computers were in a storeroom awaiting transfer to other hospitals.
Bosses at the hospital — the country’s first to be run by a private firm — said patients would be notified immediately."
