GLENS FALLS -- The theft of a computer from a state Department of Labor employee's home or car has prompted the agency to warn some state residents that they should take precautions against identity theft.
The theft happened Jan. 21. The computer apparently contained information related to nearly 550 people who work for an unspecified employer the department was auditing, according to WNYT NewsChannel 13. The department has sent out letters to those people.
It was unclear if any of the people who received letters live in the Glens Falls area.
More details were expected to become available this morning.
