Documents show patient data on stolen laptop
Vassar Brothers maintains information was never loaded
By Irwin M. Goldberg
Poughkeepsie Journal
Documents obtained by the Poughkeepsie Journal raise questions as to whether patients’ personal data was compromised when a laptop computer was stolen from Vassar Brothers Medical Center’s emergency department in June.
A work order completed by a technician indicates the data was installed on 24 computers “per request,” but an e-mail sent two hours prior to that by the same employee indicates he couldn’t complete installation on two of the machines, including the one stolen.
