IRELAND COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM COMMUNITY GROUP News - Derry Today: News, Sport, Jobs, Property, Cars, Entertainments & More: "Shantallow group 'devastated' by break-in - loss put at £50,000
A community group in Shantallow have been left 'devastated' after thieves broke into their offices and stole computers and digital cameras on Sunday night.
Oliver Green from the Greater Shantallow Community Arts Project described the break-in at their Galliagh Park office as 'heart-breaking' and added that 'years of work' has been lost.
Thieves stole eight computers, a number of digital cameras and accessories, and the building's oil tank. Mr. Green said that all of the group's records have been lost with the theft of the computers.
'This has been a devastating blow for us. I couldn't believe it when I came to work and saw what had happened. All of our computers have been stolen as well as our digital cameras. They even stole our oil tank. We have eight staff here and each of their computers and hard drives were stolen,' he said.
Mr. Green, the director of the community group, said that the theft would have a 'crushing impact' on the group's work and warned that this years St Patrick's Day celebrations could be put in jeopardy. 'We are in the middle of putting together a parade for St Patrick's Day and all of that work has been lost.
