Converged computer network is top security measure
23 March 2007 [ Print ] [ Email ]
A new survey of top company executives has found that a converged computer network is seen as the best measure to protect valuable business information.
The study by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), conducted for AT & T, found that 52 per cent of the 395 senior executives questioned felt that a converged computer network was the best defence available against IT security breaches.
Almost 45 per cent said they now felt vulnerable to IT attacks due to high volumes of customer information they held on their IT systems while 41 per cent cited having to analyse and process detailed customer information as a major cause for concern.
'Security is becoming more and more important in today's collaborative environment,' said Lloyd Salvage, AT&T's vice president in the UK.
Another 70 per cent of those surveyed felt that IP systems were also an integral weapon in ensuring business continuity after any security breach or exceptional circumstance."
