Video shows JHS computer theft
By Evan Carden SA Editor
Jackson Police are investigating a weekend burglary of Jackson High School (JHS) in which two laptop computers were stolen.
According to Chief Charles Burge, two black males were caught on the school's video surveillance around 6 p.m., Saturday, April 28, taking the computers from the school. The suspects were apparently aware they were being recorded because they kept their shirts pulled over their faces to conceal their identities.
Burge said the computers were valued at approximately $3,300. One was taken from the chorus room and the other from the first aid room. Entry into the school was gained through a door on the back side of the building.
This is not the first time JHS has been struck by burglars. Fifteen football helmets were taken from the equipment storage area adjacent to the gymnasium on Jan. 14 and 10 computers, valued at approximately $17,000 were stolen from the school's computer lab last June.
