Multiple computers were reportedly stolen from a local elementary school in a burglary believed to have occurred sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
An employee of Morrison Elementary School, 3415 Newton Road, contacted police and reported that someone had broken into classrooms behind the school’s main building and stolen four Dell computers and a Hewlett Packard printer, according to a police report.
One or more suspects gained entry into the classrooms by jerking open a door at the west end of the building. Cigarette butts believed to have been left behind by a burglar were found in a classroom and at a gate at the corner of the school lunch room. Pry marks, which appeared to be made with a screwdriver, were found on one of the doors, according to the report.
The computer equipment was likely lifted over the school fence and hauled away in a vehicle, the report states.
