HAVERHILL - A teacher at Haverhill High School left her classroom and locked the door to go to lunch. When she returned, her $1,200 Dell Inspiron laptop computer was missing, police said.

Police said they believe the person who stole the computer got into the classroom through the classroom next door.

Police are attempting to identify the person who took the computer from video surveillance in the area.

The male was described as wearing light-colored jeans and a yellow or gold-colored shirt, and a backpack.

Police said it appears the person entered the classroom Friday morning and after stealing the computer, walked down the stairwell closest to the library and then walked in the hall to the cafeteria area.

The person also asked a teacher where the bathroom was before entering the classroom.

The teacher told police the laptop is personally owned and she uses it for teaching.
