Two Beatrice men remain in the Gage County Detention Center following their arrests Tuesday for their alleged role in several burglaries in Beatrice.

Russell A. Cannon, 20, of 417 N. 11th St., Apt. 3, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft by receiving stolen property regarding incidents that occurred Oct. 26.

Travis A. Creek, 18, of the same address, was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a burglary and theft by receiving stolen property in connection with the same incidents.

The arrest report indicates Cannon came to the Beatrice Police Department on Oct. 26 and reported he had been with Creek and a third man when the third man burglarized a building in the 400 block of Court Street and stole a computer tower.

Cannon also said this man broke a display case at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter in an attempt to steal an mp3 player and allegedly stole a car stereo from a vehicle parked at Huston Motors in Beatrice and a portable DVD player and portable CD player from a vehicle parked in the Belvedere area in Beatrice.

The report indicates Cannon then told an officer he and Creek hid the computer and CD player in an alley near the 400 block of North 11th Street. While the officer did locate the CD player, the computer tower was not found.

On Oct. 30, the officer made contact with Creek who said Cannon and the third man entered the Court Street building while he waited outside. Creek also allegedly said he sold the DVD player and car stereo to a local pawn shop.
While Creek confirmed he and Cannon hid the computer tower and portable CD player, he also said he later retrieved the tower and took it to his residence where he lived with Cannon.

The officer then met Creek at the residence where the computer was retrieved. Cannon was also at the residence and, upon questioning, allegedly told the officer he entered the Court Street building with the third man to retrieve the computer tower.

As of Thursday afternoon, an investigation was continuing in the case . Officers were seeking a warrant for the third man involved in the burglaries.
