MINNESOTA COMPUTERS STOLEN Crime briefs: A burglary and a robbery | Eden Prairie News
EP police nab burglary suspect
Within a day of a report of a burglary, Eden Prairie Police had found both the suspect and recovered some of the stolen items. The incident started Oct. 25 on the 10000 block of Nottingham Trail when an Eden Prairie couple discovered their home had been burglarized that same morning.
One of the residents reported that he had left the overhead garage door open at 4:30 a.m. and sometime between then and 6:30 a.m., someone entered the garage and laundry room and stole a number of items including a purse, tools, a laptop, golf clubs, cameras, credit cards and gift cards.
One of the residents realized what had happened later that day when two of her credit card companies reported that someone had used her cards at a St. Louis Park Byerly’s. From there, police tracked down a record of who had used the card to purchase $250 worth of groceries. With the use of a surveillance video and license plate number, police identified the suspect as Troy Alan Martin, 21, of St. Louis Park.
That same day, on Oct. 26, police arrested Martin after observing him drive away from his residence. A subsequent search of the residence uncovered the stolen purse, a Byerly’s receipt, a number of other receipts, gift cards, two laptop computers and both a driver’s license and credit card that were in the name of one of the EP residents whose home had been burglarized.
Martin is in custody and was charged with first degree burglary, receiving stolen property and financial transaction card fraud.
