RM10,000 stolen goods recovered from boys
Penampang: Police here detained five boys following a string of break-ins in Petagas here and in the city recently.
District Police Chief, DSP Madang Usat said the suspects, aged between 16 and 19, were hauled in last Thursday and Friday. Police also recovered a host of suspected stolen items worth about RM10,000.
"We found a laptop computer belonging to a government department, jewellery items, a radio (among others) É we believe we have solved at least five break-ins with the arrest of the suspects," he said.
Meanwhile, two former convicts were detained for stealing seven car CD players last week.
Madang said the suspects, locals aged in their 20s, rode on a motorcycle to select vehicles they could steal from, adding they were active in Penampang.
"After arresting the suspects, we subsequently hauled in six people, in their 30s, from here and Kota Kinabalu, who bought the stolen CD players.
"This is a warning to the publicÉdo not buy stolen items or risk the consequences," he said, adding police recovered the CD players.
In another development, a woman bank officer found her Kembara car missing after parking it at Jalan Penampang Baru on Tuesday.
The woman had parked the car there at about 11am before going to work and found it gone 12 hours later.
"We immediately alerted our counterparts in other districts and the following day Keningau police located the car," said Madang.
Also detained was a 25-year-old man who was driving the vehicle, he added.
