Man arrested on theft charges
Police arrested a Washington man on theft charges at Hood College, according to the Frederick Police Department.
Officers went to the college on Rosemont Avenue about 4:55 a.m. Sunday because a student said a man had stolen a laptop computer from her dorm room, police said.
Officer Douglas Stephenson found a man, later identified as Antoine Rondell Walker, 21, walking near Shriner Hall and carrying a laptop computer, police said.
When the officer approached, Walker ran around the corner of a building, police said. When Stephenson caught up with him, Walker was no longer carrying the computer.
Stephenson checked the area and found the computer. A witness identified Walker as the man she saw walking away from a dorm room with the laptop.
Walker was arrested and charged with theft greater than $500, police said. After searching Walker, Stephenson found he had stolen a pair of sunglasses from another student. He was additionally charged with theft less than $100.
