The Livermore Chamber of Commerce office in downtown Livermore was broken in to sometime last week and all the electronic equipment was stolen, chamber President and CEO Dale Kaye said Monday.

"All the electronic equipment was taken," Kaye said. "The computer and phone servers, all the printers, computers, calculators -- everything that was electronic."

Police said Monday that there were no signs of forced entry at the chamber, at 2157 First St. The thefts occurred sometime between Wednesday and Friday.

"We suspect (the burglar) had a key," Livermore police Lt. Scott Trudeau said. "Someone had to have some kind of access. Whoever did it seemed to know what they were looking for."

Trudeau said that despite the burglar or burglars knowing where items of value were in the office -- such as a hidden petty cash box -- the department is not now investigating employees.

Kaye said she was the last chamber employee to leave the office, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, and returned Friday to do some extra work. That's when she saw the mess inside.

She estimated the chamber's losses in the thousands of dollars.

"We have already ordered (the new equipment)," she said. "We have backups of all our files. We'll be back in business very quickly."

She said no personal information, such as credit card numbers, was stolen or compromised.

The chamber office will be closed today, but Kaye said she planned to reopen by Wednesday.

We had a contingency plan and we were prepared," she said.
