School computer missing: A desktop computer, keyboard and mouse and a 15-inch NEC liquid crystal display flat-screen monitor were stolen from an unlocked classroom at Academy High School, 4850 S. Pine Island Rd., when between 1 p.m. Nov. 9 and 8:15 a.m. Nov. 13. The stolen items were valued at $450.
PLANTATION
Laptop lifted: Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Nov. 27, someone opened a gate, pried the deadbolt lock off a garage door of a home in the 5400 block of Southwest Eighth Street and stole a Toshiba laptop computer valued at $1,200.
Home ransacked: A 4.5-carat diamond ring valued at $75,000 was one of eight rings reported stolen from a home in the 7200 block of East Tropical Way between 5 and 11:15 p.m. Nov. 23. The owner told police the other seven rings, a bracelet, two sets of cuff links, a Sony laptop computer , a 19-inch plasma television set, a briefcase and a checkbook were valued at more than $38,000. Police said the burglars entered by smashing a rear window.
