Three laptops stolen from Dodd's office in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — Three laptop computers used by staff members of Chris Dodd's presidential campaign were stolen from Dodd's Cedar Rapids office sometime Sunday morning.

The computers didn't contain any vital information that staffers were aware of, said Taylor West, Dodd's Iowa press secretary. Campaign workers used them while they were in the office.

The computers were stolen between 1 and 11:45 a.m. Sunday from his office, at 1229 First Ave. E, but it wasn't broken into, West said. A staff member forgot to lock a door when leaving the office, and access was apparently gained through that door.

"Our staff stays pretty busy, and they're in and out of there all the time. That person was probably not aware that they were the last ones to leave," she said. "An e-mail has been sent to all staffers reminding them to be careful."

The burglary was reported to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, which is investigating.
