ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police are crediting an internal security device for helping track down a stolen laptop computer and two theft suspects.
Police say they took a report of a burglary September 21st at Tasha's Natte Latte coffee stand on Minnesota Drive.
Thieves broke a window and stole a Gateway laptop and coffee punch cards.
The computer contained "lo-jack" security software.
When activated, the software can track the computer if a user gets on the Internet.
The software tracks IP addresses as well as key strokes while the computer is on line.
Police traced the computer to the home of a 16-year-old boy and used a search warrant to recover the stolen laptop.
The youth and a second teen were charged with theft and taken to McLaughlin Youth Center.
