Rialto man arrested in connection with computer theft from college
Police arrested a 27-year-old Rialto man Thursday on suspicion of stealing 18 computers from the Murrieta college where he worked as a janitor, authorities said.
The laptops were taken from Azusa Pacific University in September, a Murrieta Police Department news release said.
Detective Bob Anderson located Jorge Manuel Lara on Thursday at his home in Rialto. Lara confessed to the burglary, and led investigators to several locations around Rialto where he had sold the stolen laptops, the release said. Investigators recovered 11 of the computers.
Lara was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary and possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
