Three youths face charges of theft

Three youths last week appeared in the St. John’s Magistrate’s Court to answer charges of break-in and entering and larceny.

Vaughn Simon, Kenny Aaron and a 16-year-old appeared before Magistrate Joan Fung, accused of stealing goods valuing in total US $12,640 and EC$356.

Reports are that on 4 Feb., the men broke into a villa at Jolly Harbour and stole several electronic items and jewellery.

The items, the property of Christine Bowen include one Apple iPod valued at US$45, one Apple Mac Book laptop computer valued US$2,500, two black Dell laptop computers valued at US$5,000, one Panasonic DVD player costing US$850, one Motorola cell phone valued US$ 200 and one UBS black bag which costs US$20.


According to reports the other stolen goods are one pair of gold earrings valued US$150; one gold chain with a compass pendant valued at US$1,200, a black and white dinghy costing US$2,500, one DVD disc valued US$75, US$ 50 cash and EC$356 cash.

The men were granted station bail by the police, which the magistrate confirmed.

Aaron and Simon have to report to the Bolans Police Station three days each week while the teen will report to the nearest police station three days as well.

Aaron is being represented by Vere Bird Jr., while Simon and the 16-year-old are being represented by attorney Craig Christopher. Committal proceedings are set for 28 May.
