Thieves get hold of personal information belonging to thousands of Valley residents.
Computers were stolen from the company that manages employee benefit information for the Clovis Unified School District. The business is called Systematic Automation. They're located in Fullerton in Orange County.
The district says employee names, addresses and social security numbers were stored on a computer that was taken, and police don't know if thieves want the computer hardware or the information that's stored in them.
Fullerton police say a window was broken and several computers and monitors were stolen. At this point they don't have suspects so they're not sure if the thieves know how to access the data or if they plan to use it.
The district has just under 5,000 employees, but not all of their information was on the computer. Fullerton police say the computers are password protected but that doesn't mean the code can't be cracked
The district is now offering classes and information about how employees can protect their credit score.
The police believe the computers contained tens of thousands of pieces of information.
