Suspects in school burglary located

Randy Mitchell Staff Writer

AdaAda police have learned the identity of three juveniles involved in a burglary at Ada Junior High June 24 and recovered stolen property as well.

Ada police Capt. Tommy Cosper said three juvenile males ages 14, 15, and 14, broke into the school and vandalized and stole school property. Officer Michael Jackson reported the suspects broke a window to get inside.

Jackson noted several items had been strewn about the school and many classrooms were broken into and vandalized. Computers had paint damage on them and two laptop computers and several handheld radios were missing.

The suspects had discharged fire extinguishers up and down the hallways and left clear shoe prints in the dust. Photographs of the shoe prints were taken as evidence.

“During the investigation, we went to a house on South Stockton and saw shoe prints on the porch which matched those found in the school,” Cosper said. “We also found one of the missing radios next to the porch.”

Jackson and Cosper knocked on the door and a 14-year-old male answered. When asked about the burglary, he reportedly admitted to being in the school. The youth then handed over the rest of the missing radios to police. From information gathered at the house, police were led to a residence down the block, Cosper said.

The officers spoke with one of the two suspects who lived at the house, along with his mother and he reportedly confessed to being there and handed over the stolen laptop computers. Two of the juveniles owned shoes which matched the shoe prints left in the extinguisher discharge, Jackson said.

Cosper said the parents of the juveniles could be held financially responsible for the damage done to the school.
