David Kraft, technology instructor at the St. Joseph campus of Calvert Catholic Schools, reported Thursday afternoon three video iPods and two iBook laptop computers were stolen from the school.

Kraft reported the iPods, one of which was his personal iPod, were last used June 24 and were found missing on the morning of June 26 and the laptops were found missing on June 28.

"At first I thought maybe I had misplaced them," Kraft said.

Kraft reported one of the workers from CROSSWAEH, who have been painting the school, had told him he was offered for $100 an iPod that matched the description of the stolen device.

Capt. Frank Iannantuono of the Tiffin Police said Kraft notified CROSSWAEH, and their clients were given a shakedown, but nothing was found.

Jason Varney, vice president of correctional programs in Seneca County for Oriana House's CROSSWAEH facility, said he could not comment on the situation because it is under investigation.

Tiffin Police were advised one of the laptops had been found in a plastic bag in a ditch outside Wal-Mart, 2801 W. SR 18, and given to Calvert Principal Tony Mass, who returned it to Kraft.

When the computer was returned to Kraft, he knew which room it had been taken from and said the iPods had been kept in the same room.

Kraft said the iPods are worth around $250 a piece and the computers are $1,100 a piece.

Iannantuono said the case remains under investigation.
