Rajkot, July 13 The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Rajkot police has arrested three college students for their involvement in theft of 25 motorcycles and two computers from Morvi town.
According to the police, the three belong to middle class government servants' family. They had started stealing bikes to fulfil their hobby of riding expensive motorcycles.
The LCB had earlier received information that some computers and bike accessories were lying unattended inside the Balghar building for quite sometime. A few months ago, the nagarpalika had sealed the building.
During investigations, the police further found that Mitesh Chikaliya, 19, son of government servant Ravjibhai Chikaliya, Sagar Rathod, 17, son of government servant Jayantibhai Rathod and Milan Dave, 16, son of Devendra Dave, a Morvi court clerk were behind the thefts.
On Saturday, a case was registered against the three and they were arrested along with a stolen motorcycle (registration number GJ 3RR 2427), two computers, LCD screens, other computer accessories and motorcycle spare parts.
Mitesh is a second-year student, Sagar is in the first-year and Milan is in HSC, the police said.
The police added the three would steal bikes which were lying unattended for a long time and ride them. Later they would dismantle the motorcycles and sell off the spare parts individually to avoid suspicion and remove all traces of the thefts.
Around three days ago, the trio had targeted the Om Shanti College were Mitesh is studying, the police said.
Mitesh will be produced in court on Monday and the other two minor boys will be produced before the juvenile court.
