Police identified the establishments as the Surf & Beyond Internet Café owned and managed by Cecil Miguel Capuno and the Madegyem Computer Shop owned and managed by Martina Kitongan Madegyem.
According to police of BCPO Station 2, Surf & Beyond Internet Café was broken into by still unidentified burglars, who carted away eight assorted computers worth P120,000 from there sometime between 11 p.m. of July 14 and 5 a.m. of July 15.
An initial investigation showed the police suspect that the burglars gained entry into the place by destroying the padlocks on the main door with the use of a bolt cutter.
On the other hand, a separate probe showed that the burglars involved in the Puliwes robbery were also suspected of gaining entry into the place by also destroying the padlock on the main door with a bolt cutter, and once inside, took nine assorted computers valued at P50,000 sometime between 12 midnight and 6 a.m. of July 15.
In both cases, separate teams from BCPO Stations 2 and 8, and scene-of-the-crime operations (Soco) teams from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory went to the areas to lift fingerprints and scour the robbed establishments of other clues, which may lead to the identification of the perpetrators.
