OAKLAND (BCN) ― The theft of 10 computers from the Oakland Unified School District's central office Tuesday night has prompted federal and local investigations, the school district announced Wednesday.

The burglary was discovered this morning in the Human Resources Department. Investigators are still determining the scope of personal information obtained and the employees impacted, according to school district officials.

The school district reportedly is in the process of notifying all employees whose information may have been compromised.

School district officers, the Oakland Police Department, the Alameda County District Attorney and the FBI are working together to solve the crime and enhance security at the district office, district officials said.
