QATAR COMPUTER THIEVES FOUND GUILTY Gulf Times – Qatar’s top-selling English daily newspaper - Qatar:
Trio guilty of stealing computers

THREE men have been found guilty of stealing four computers from a Doha girls’ school in March.
The men, from Sri Lanka, were each given one year suspended jail terms and deportation orders. They were also made to return the stolen goods.
A court heard that the men swiped the computers over two nights, but were rumbled when a cleaner from the school visited the home of one of the thieves and recognised the equipment. The school principal was then informed and the police were called in.
Their investigations found that one man broke into the school, another moved the stolen goods in his car and the third hid the computers at his home.
The court said that although each one of the suspects had played a different role in the theft it was “obvious that they had the same target which was to possess something that was not their own”.
Giving its verdict, the court said it had taken into account the relatively young age of the defendants – all in their early 20s – and their previously clean records.
The verdict is open for appeal.
