MORGANTOWN - A WVU student majoring in pre-criminology and investigations is now the subject of an investigation into reselling stolen laptop computers.
WVU Officer C.R. Barker charged Anthony L. Stoddard, 19, of Morgantown, with two counts of receiving and transferring stolen goods, and one count of conspiracy, after tracking software on a stolen computer led them to Stoddard.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Monongalia County Magistrate Court, police who searched Stoddard's residence found two Dell laptops that had been reported stolen from Boreman South on Aug. 15.
Stoddard explained that he "is contacted by a person who steals laptops and that he sells laptops for cash only, that way it cannot be traced," Barker wrote.
Also recovered was a Toshiba computer reported stolen Aug. 15 from Boreman South. Stoddard allegedly gave it to his girlfriend, the complaint said.
