Flat-screen TV, computer stolen from unlocked Stuart home

STUART — A man who left the back door to his house unlocked for his roommate became the victim of a burglary Thursday night, according to a report by the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

The man told deputies had left the residence in the 4500 block of Southeast Marie Way with his girlfriend at 7 p.m. He said he left the sliding door to the back of the house unlocked because his roommate would arrive home soon but did not have a key.

When the man returned at 8:20 p.m. he discovered a 50-inch Samsung flat screen television and Compaq Presario desktop computer were missing from the living room.

According to the report, the burglars had attempted to disengage the lock on the front door but the knob broke off. The entered the home through the unlocked door in the rear of the residence.

The report says neighbors heard loud bangs coming from the residence about 7:30 p.m. but did not look outside to see what was happening.
