Temp worker charged with stealing IDEXX laptops
January 26, 2009
A temporary employee assigned to IDEXX has been charged with stealing a number of high-end laptop computers from an IDEXX warehouse.
Police charged David Fournier with felony theft in connection with the theft of 59 of the Dell computers, an expensive a ATG D630 model that retails for $1,500 each. That makes the aggregate value of the theft more than $88,000.
Westbrook Chief William Baker said police recovered about one third of the missing computers, which were stolen between January and June in 2008, but he expects more arrests in the near future. Many of the computers may still be being sold on the street or over the Internet, he said.
The company has offered $500 for the return of each computer, provided the person returning it assists in identifying other possible suspects in the theft, Baker said.
Anyone with information about the theft or sale of the stolen IDEXX laptop computers is asked to contact Westbrook detectives at 854-0644, ext. 421.
