When teachers at three Pajaro Valley Unified School District schools returned to their classes Monday, they discovered their classrooms had been vandalized and burglarized.

Classrooms at Mintie White and Starlight elementary schools and E.A. Hall Middle School were visited by vandals sometime over the weekend, according to district administration.

No suspect information was available as of press time.

Tony Magdayo of the Watsonville Police Department said the incidents were still under investigation Monday, but confirmed computers and other items had been stolen from each school. He estimated the damage and losses at $7,000.

Magdayo also said that police have no evidence that connects the three burglaries.

At Starlight, the suspects threw a rock through the rear window of teacher Guadalupe Castaneda’s first-grade class, which scattered shards of glass across the carpet. They then rifled through cabinets and drawers, finally making off with three computers estimated to be worth about $3,000, principal Mark Donnelly said.
