THIBODAUX – A pair of Napoleonville residents were arrested for allegedly stealing four laptop computers, several basketball uniforms and medical supplies from Assumption High School, Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.

Nicholas Chamberlain, 21, and Chris Baham, 20, both of 445 La. 1012, were arrested for illegal possession of stolen things. They were also charged on an outstanding warrant of a simple burglary of a residence on La. 1012, shortly after Hurricane Gustav.

According to police, Chamberlain and Baham attempted to use the computers but discovered they were password protected. At that point, they requested a friend reformat three of the computers.

The suspects then contacted their girlfriends’ mother, Melissa Durocher, 44, of 111 E. Little Texas in Napoleonville, who allegedly agreed to deliver the computers to the friend. She was later charged with illegal possession of stolen things.

While working on the computers, police say the suspects’ friend discovered they belonged to Assumption High and contacted authorities.

Chamberlain, Baham and Durocher were taken to the Assumption Parish jail where they were booked. Additional charges are expected, Waguespack said.
