BRIEF: Computer thieves take $7K in laptops from store near Connellsville

Apr 04, 2009 (Tribune-Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- State police at Uniontown are investigating the theft of about $7,000 worth of laptop computers from the Wal-Mart near Connellsville.

Trooper Charles Morrison said the laptops were stolen shortly before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday by between two and four white males 'working in concert.' 'They used a crow bar or a small pry bar to open the glass showcases, (then) put the laptops in the bottom of the cart and put clothing over the top,' Morrison said.

The cart was placed near one of the exit doors at the store along Route 119, while other members of the groups pried the security alarm off the door, took the battery off and pushed the cart out the door.

Morrison said the investigation continues and that the value of the stolen merchandise may be even higher.
